Practise the present tense of -ar verbs
(all Peninsular Spanish forms)

On this page, you'll practise all of the forms of the present tense of -ar verbs. This includes the vosotros forms that are generally only used in Spain. (Alternatively, you can practise just the forms used in Latin America.)

Recall that the extra forms that we'll be practising here that weren't in the previous practise sections are:

  • the vosotros form, used to mean "you" when referring to more than one person on familiar terms; to make this form, replace -ar with -áis (don't forget the accent!);
  • the they form (ellos/ellas in Spanish), formed by replacing -ar with -an;
  • the formal plural "you" form, which is the same as the they form.

You'll still have to use the other forms practised on the previous pages. Be careful about which "you" form is being asked for. If you've forgotten anything, you can always go back to the yo and forms or él/ella and nosotros forms before continuing here.

Once you get to the stage where you can fill in this grid (several times!) without hesitating, then you'll have mastered basic -ar verbs in the present tense.

Next, we'll consider a handful of -ar verbs which have a slight complication of a vowel change in the stem in certain forms.
