-er and -ir verbs continued:
|
Person | -er verb ending | Example (comer) | -ir verb ending | Example (partir) |
---|---|---|---|---|
nosotros, nosotras we | -emos | comemos we eat | -imos | partimos we leave |
vosotros, vosotras you (all) | -éis | coméis you (all) eat | -ís | partís you (all) leave |
Recall that vosotros (and its feminine vosotras) is essentially only used in Spain, and refers to more than one person on informal terms.
In Latin America, ustedes (with the verb form ending in -en for -er and -ir verbs) is used to refer to more than one person, on either familiar or formal terms.
Below you can practise the nosotros and vosotros forms of -er and -ir verbs, along with the other forms. If you're learning Latin American Spanish, that means there aren't many new forms to learn!
1. In a few cases, the -ir is spelled with an accent (e.g. freír).
